Appenzeller Alp
When hiking from the Hundwil height towards the village Zürchersmühle you will pass this small Alp Farm. During my hike I started with sunshine in Appenzell, passed some thick fog on the Hundwil height which afterwards opened up and allowed me this Image.
Glarner Alp
Glarus is not so well known under tourist but it offers nice villages, scenic lakes and even great adventure possibilities. This small Alp farm is located in front of the village Schwändi and offers a nice view of the mountain Gufelstock.
22° halo
During a hike on the Weissenberg in Glaurs this 22° halo showed up next to the thick clouds. It was quite fresh temperatures for October, the mountains are already covered with the first snow and the foreground still shows some typical autumn colours.
Colourful larches
In autumn the larches will change their colour from green in a beautiful gold yellow. During a hike in Val Trupchun in the swiss National Park the weather changed quite often, from some drizzle to sunshine. When I saw the Piz d'Esan with the larches and the treeline it offered a scenic view with nice shadows and contrasts.
Frozen lake Obersee
The lake Obersee in Glarus is not freezing completely so often, during the winter 2016/17 it happened. But with the special situation that we had no snow but very cold temperatures, through this the ice got quite transparent and show the colours of the ground, in this case just black. Next to this the upper layer of the ice is full with small ice crystals through the wind and the freezing cold temperatures.
Central Zurich
The Central is a public square in Zurich and of the city's nodal points for road and public transportation. During the summer of 2017 the central square was rebuilt and refurbished and offers now a modern facet with improved traffic guidance.
Mystical Village
Dartlo is a Village in the Tusheti National Park in the northern slopes of the greater Caucasus. Behind the Village in the Mountains is already the border to Russia. In the Village and in the Mountains there are combat towers from historical times.
Scenic Tusheti
Tusheti with it's almost unspoiled area offers everyone a scenic views. This one is from the upper area of the village Parsma with a view in the valley and to the Nakle-Kholi pass (2920m) which is still little covered with snow.
Trekking in Tusheti
Tusheti National Park in the northern slopes of the greater Caucasus is an awesome place for some days Trekking without the hurry of civilization. You have to bring all what you need for living up to here but you will reward with an unspoiled area. It lies behind the Abano Pass (2850m) and the Road up to there is considered as one of the most dangerous road on earth.
Sheeps in the mountains
This sheeps coming for summer up for the Tusheti area. Mostly they have a long journey up to here and some will not survive the travel. When they are in the Tusheti National Park they are quite often alone, without a shepherd, but with some quite agressive sheep dogs.
Sheep movement
During winter the sheeps will leave Tusheti and spend it in the lower area of kakheti. For example here next to the Dali Reservoir where also often new lambs were born.
Traces to Azerbaijan
This Image was shot in the morning during sunrise, a dog just passed the visible path. 500 meters behind the allée there is already the border to Azerbaijan.
The Blue spot
When driving from Akureyri to the lake Myvatn on the Route 1 you will pass the small village Svalbarðseyri. While we passed it on our travel, it offered a mystic view cause at the end of the fjord Eyjafjörður the sky opened up and showed a blue spot.
Námafjall and Hverarönd
Hverarönd is a hydrothermal area on the east side of the mountain Námafjall. In this area there is a lot of mud pots, fumarole and solfatara where sulfur and vapour exposed in the area.
Mykines by Sunset
Normally, most look only forward because there is the waterfall next to the village Gasadalur and the sunset, but this island attracted my gaze. Until a few years ago this view was granted to only a few, because this place was one of the most isolated places in Europe, this only changed when the tunnel Gásadalstunnilin was opened in 2006.
Sunset behind Gásadalur and Árnafjall
Until a few years ago Gásadalur was still considered one of the most isolated places in Europe. The village was only accessible by helicopter or on foot by a difficult 3.5km long tour. This changed only in 2006 when the single-lane tunnel Gásadalstunnilin was opened. Since then this scenic view gets more and more popular.
Norðradalur
Norðradalur is a small village whose turning is located on the old road to Torshavn. It offers a wonderful view of the island of Koltur and is surrounded by impressive columnar basalt wall. In the moment there are only living around 5 people in this area.
Dúvugarður farm with fog
Dúvugarður farm is an active farm from the 17th century. When I first came here, I knew that I would like to make a picture again but this time with fog on which one you not have to wait long on the Faroe Islands.
Stóra Dímun
This Image shows the steep cliffs in front of Stóra Dímun. Due to this cliffs this Island is only reachable by Helicopter. On this Island are only living two families and because the Islands is so hard to reach they are mostly self-sufficient.
Mykines Lighthouse
An Aerial view of the Mykines Lighthouse, from a Atlantic Airways Helicopter which is also a public transport in the Faroe Islands. This island was formed 60 million year ago and belong to one of the oldest parts of the Faroe Islands. It is also a very important bird area for seabirds like the northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-legged kittiwake and Atlantic puffin.
The bridge
An Aerial view of the atlantic bridge which connect Mykines and the holm Mykineshólmur, the gap is called Hólmgjógv. On the westside of the holm there is the Lighthouse and a important bird area.
Endless sea
In front of the Faroe Islands there is just the Atlantic Ocean, a endless sea. No point on these islands is further than 5 kilometers from the sea.
Vadret da Tschierva
The Vadret da Tschierva or the Tschierva glacier is a significant glacier in the Bernina range in Oberengadin, Switzerland. The glacier disappears as a result of global warming. Since the beginning of the measurements in 1934 he went back around 1665 meters. The last observed increase was in 1986/1987, since then (20 years ago) a decrease with over 1000 meters was measured.
Vadret da Morteratsch
The Vadret da Morteratsch or the Morteratsch glacier is a significant glacier in the Berninagruppe in Oberengadin, Switzerland. The glacier disappears as a result of global warming. Since the beginning of the measurements in 1878 he went back around 2649 meters. There were only 5 periods in which an increase was observed, most recently in the period 2003-2004 by 10.3 meters. In the last period 2014-2015 a decrease of 163.9 meters was measured. Soon this beautiful place will not be more like I photographed it.
